The author provides a sociological analysis of the
ways in which white corporations-subtly and not so subtly-demean and
contain Black Women. Her analysis on In/Group, Out/Group behavior,
rites of passage, containment, tokenism-just to name a few mechanisms
of employee control-will open your eyes to the way in which corporate
behavior effects individual behavior.
Black women will come to understand exactly why and
how they feel so excluded. And all of us will come to understand how
discrimination becomes part of an organization's structure. This is
an important, ground-breaking work.
